Most students arriving in 2025 will receive an eVisa (Digital Immigration Status) linked to their passport, rather than a physical card.

Application Timeline (2025 Cycle)
Secure Your CAS
Accept your unconditional offer and pay the university deposit. Check your CAS data carefully for errors.
28-Day Fund Maturity
Ensure your bank statement shows the required amount has not dropped below the limit for 28 days. Do not print the statement until the 28th day is complete.
Online Application & IHS
Apply via GOV.UK. You will pay the IHS fee first (£776/yr), then the Visa fee (£490). You will create a UKVI account (for your eVisa).
Biometrics at Gerry’s (VFS)
Attend your appointment for fingerprinting. Upload documents to the VFS portal beforehand.
Decision & Travel
Standard processing is 3 weeks. Successful applicants receive a vignette (sticker) to enter the UK, then access their eVisa status online.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring dependents in 2025?
No, unless you are studying a research-based postgraduate course (PhD/MPhil) or a government-sponsored course. Students on standard MSc/MA courses cannot bring family.
Will I get a BRP card?
Likely not. The UK Home Office is phasing out BRPs. You will receive instructions to access your immigration status digitally via the UKVI website.
Can I work while studying?
Yes. Degree-level students can work 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official vacation periods.
Is the interview mandatory?
Credibility interviews are increasingly common for Pakistani students. You must be prepared to answer questions about your course, university, and finances confidently.
